Elsie Koh, MD, MHL

Elsie Koh, MD, MHL is the Chief Medical Officer of American Endovascular & Amputation Prevention whose mission is to save patients from amputation by offering cutting edge, minimally invasive, image-guided techniques to salvage limbs in patients with critical limb ischemia.  As a leadership coach for physicians and founder of the LEAD Physician® CME-based program, she helps physicians who feel unfulfilled and distracted in their current situation learn key business and leadership skills left out of training so that they can clarify their goals and strategy for their future and develop a clear path in pursuit of the career they want and are meant to have.

Her drive to form this platform came from her own awakening and awareness that physicians do not traditionally get taught how to lead in school.  As a result, the current healthcare system largely lacks the physician’s voice in leadership roles including the most senior positions in many organizations.  At the same time, as healthcare continues to become more complex and costly, organizations are realizing the desperate need to have physician leaders on their teams to find ways to consolidate, collaborate, and improve the efficiencies in accordance with the quadruple aim: improve quality of care, decrease the cost of care, improve patient satisfaction, and decrease burnout for healthcare workers.

Physicians are at a pivotal point in the history of medicine where they can jumpstart their careers and make themselves invaluable in the healthcare setting that is desperate to find and have them by adding these critical skills to their clinical expertise.

Dr. Koh’s trained as an Interventional Radiologist at Columbia-Presbyterian hospital in NYC and was one of a small percentage of women to enter the field of interventional radiology (IR) when only 1% of doctors in the field were women. She took many leadership positions including being Chief Medical Informatics Officer (CMIO) and Regional Medical Officer at Fresenius Vascular Care North America. She served in the corporate medical office of Fresenius Medical Care North America as a medical officer and consultant to the executive Chief Medical Officer. She graduated with advanced honors at Brown University in 2017 with an Executive Master’s in Healthcare Leadership (EMHL).

Since May 2020, Dr. Koh has been recruited as Chief Medical Officer of American Endovascular and Amputation Prevention, a growing, multi-center vascular practice that focuses on providing specialized, minimally invasive procedures to help save patients with peripheral arterial disease from amputations.  She’s a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and working toward ICF accreditation through the Health Coach Institute (HCI) program to further enhance her skills in leadership.

During her free time, Dr. Koh loves to read, travel, golf, ski, and sing. She is married with two grown children in NJ.
